These little hand hugging cuppos are being sold as a pair only. One is pretty darn perfect, and the other has a bit of a wobbly bum – something to which I can heartily relate. In any case, they wish to remain as a pair.. and so have been discounted to allow such diva-esque demands. Often heard in their presence “Oh, wow, they really are little”. 😉 both holding approx 70mls of liquid.. the smaller measures 100g weight, and 6×6.5x6cm, and the larger weighs 110g and is approx 7x7x6cm.
They have been hand built to create the undulating surface for which this delightful effect of glaze runs and pools, creating the variegated hues of a pristine waterfall.
Each piece requires two initial 20 min sessions to form, so that the clay is sturdy enough for each step. After setting up over night, or after a few nights if it’s cold or humid, the walls have then been carved away to leave a geometric faceted finish.
They are then is allowed to dry, bisque fired, washed and then hand painted with 5 coats of glaze, then fired a second time, before finally being sanded down on the base to remove any burrs formed during the shrinking process of glaze firing. it is then weighed, measured, filled with water to establish volume, photographed, and catalogued for display and/or sale. All told, each piece spends at least 1.5 hours in my hands, being fed a stream of reiki and love, sealed in by 1200C. (Their maker, i.e. me 😉 is a Sagittarius, in Sun, Moon and Rising, so its no wonder I like to seal things with a kiss of fire 😉 )
