These little hand hugging cuppos have been hand built to create the undulating surface for which this delightful effect of glaze runs and pools, creating the variegated hues of a pristine waterfall. Each one can contain approx 250ml of water, or in my opinion, as the name suggests, 250ml of hot chocolate 🙂 mmmmmm They come with a free ceramic spoon too. 🙂
Each piece requires three initial 20 min sessions to form, so that the clay is sturdy enough for each step.., then the tab handle is added, and the whole thing covered in plastic for a few days to they clays even out in moisture and the handle doesnt dry at a different rate and crack itself away from the mug.
It is then is allowed to dry, bisque fired, washed and then hand painted with 5 coats of glaze, then fired a second time, before finally being sanded down on the base to remove any burrs formed during the shrinking process of glaze firing. it is then weighed, measured, filled with water to establish volume, photographed, and catalogued for display and/or sale. All told, each piece spends at least 3 hours in my hands, being fed a stream of reiki and love, sealed in by 1200C. (Their maker, i.e. me 😉 is a Sagittarius, in Sun, Moon and Rising, so its no wonder I like to seal things with a kiss of fire 😉 )
